La Morita is a 28 foot catamaran based in San Jose del Cabo. She sits on two hulls, so she rolls less than a single hull boat of the same size, and that is the whole reason people ask for her. Three to four guests fishing, up to five for whale watching. A good boat for families and for people who are not sure about boats.

Two hulls, and why that is the point

La Morita is 28 feet and she is a catamaran. She stands on two hulls instead of one. At rest and at slow speed that gives you a flatter deck than a single hull boat of the same length, and a flatter deck is what you want when somebody in the group is quietly worried about how the day will go.

This is the boat we suggest first for families, for grandparents, for people who have had one bad trip on a small boat and have not been back since. It is also a comfortable deck to stand on while you are watching whales, because you are not bracing against a roll the whole time.

Out of San Jose del Cabo

La Morita's home port is San Jose del Cabo and that is where you meet her. San Jose is the quieter end of the corridor, up the coast from Cabo San Lucas, and if you are staying near San Jose or along the corridor it saves you the drive down to the marina in Cabo.

Departure times and trip durations are still being confirmed. We will confirm the meeting point and time with you before the day.

Who fits aboard

Three to four guests fishing. Up to five for whale watching. Those are the working numbers.

Split charters are rarely run. When you book La Morita you have the boat. Nobody is putting another family on the deck with you, which matters more than usual when you have children aboard and you want to set your own pace.

A 50% deposit is normal to hold a date. Rates are still being confirmed.

Fishing, whales and the paperwork

She fishes with three or four people. Beginners are welcome and this is a forgiving boat to learn on, because the deck is steady enough that you are thinking about the rod instead of your feet. Rod and reel rental is available.

For spearfishing, most guests bring their own gear. Some rental is available. We provide lead and floats so you do not have to carry them through an airport.

Mexican fishing licences are not included in the price. Each angler buys their own and we will help you get them arranged.

You take your catch home. Expert filleting, vacuum sealing and freezing are available.

Water, ice and snacks are normally aboard. Some trips include lunch and alcohol. Which trips is still being confirmed, so ask us.

What we are not claiming

A catamaran hull is steadier. That is a real difference and it is the reason to book her. It is not a promise that nobody will feel unwell in a chop, and it is not a claim about speed or range, which we are not going to invent for you.

Do not assume a cabin, a head, air conditioning or particular electronics are aboard. All of that is still being confirmed until the captain confirms it. If one of those decides the trip for you, ask before you pay a deposit.

Pick a different boat if

  • You have more than four anglers. Take the 33 foot Don Pancho or the 35 foot El Wahoo King.
  • You want a full day offshore chasing big fish. The sportfishers are built for that run and this boat is not.
  • You want a multi day trip. That is El Wahoo King.
  • You are staying in Todos Santos and want the Pacific side. That is the 24 foot Punta Lobos panga, though note the beach launch and the rules that come with it.

La Morita is the right call when the day is about being on the water together, when the group includes people who need a steady deck, and when whale watching is at least half the reason you are going out.

Straight answers to the questions every guest asks.

The short version of how a trip with Indigo Adventures works. Licences, deposits, boats and what happens to your catch. The full FAQ has the rest.

Read the full FAQ
Where is Indigo Adventures based, and where do trips leave from?
+

Indigo Adventures is based in El Pescadero, on the Pacific side of Baja California Sur, a few minutes south of Todos Santos. Boats launch from three points: Punta Lobos beach in Todos Santos, San Jose del Cabo, and the Cabo San Lucas Marina. Which boat runs your trip decides where you meet us.

What kinds of trips do you run?
+

Custom fishing and spearfishing charters, freediving excursions, whale watching from mid December to April, and kayaking. Every trip is built around your group, your dates and the conditions rather than a fixed timetable, and almost every one goes out private.

How does booking work?
+

Book online on the Book Now page, where availability is live and a 50 percent deposit holds the date. If you would rather we picked the trip, send an enquiry with who is coming, when you are here and what you want out of the day, and we will say which trip fits and which one does not.

Is a Mexican fishing licence included?
+

No. Everyone fishing in Mexican waters needs a Mexican sportfishing licence, and each angler buys their own. We help you arrange it before the day so nobody is sorting paperwork on the dock. The same licence covers rod and spear.

Do you run shared or split charters?
+

Rarely. Almost every trip goes out as a private boat for you and your group. If a split makes sense for a small party we will say so when you enquire.

How many people fit on a boat?
+

Three on the 24 foot Punta Lobos panga, up to four on La Ruca and La Morita, and up to six on Don Pancho and El Wahoo King. Whale watching numbers run a little higher because nobody is swinging a rod.

Can I keep what I catch?
+

Yes. The catch goes home with you. Filleting at the dock, vacuum sealing and freezing are available, and most guests fly home with a cooler. Marlin are mostly released, with judgement on the day.

Are beginners welcome?
+

Yes, on fishing days. The crew rigs and handles the gear and hands you the rod when something eats. Guided spearfishing needs breath-hold experience and runs on a strict buddy system, which is the only legal way to spearfish in Mexico. Water, ice and snacks are normally aboard.
