I've been utilizing Indigo Adventures for several years now and feel qualified to share my opinion regarding what makes a baja charter a success. 1: Local communication and relationships. People have to remember, things go south with gear, boat parts, etc. It's not like one can make a quick run to a nearby store. one is often in remote locations with no cell / wifi. Your charter should be able to speak the language fluently and have a local network. Colin respects the local community and has forged lasting relationships. This mutual respect provides access to cherished locations with a network of boats to share information. 2: Experience and knowledge: Don't tell Colin i said this, but dude knows his stuff. Read his bio regarding his background, but this guy knows the ocean, boats, navigation, fishing, etc. He walks the walk. He's put so much time in the water scouting pinnacles, conditions, currents, etc. He's told me more than once, "get ready (blank) is about to happen....." Only to witness with my eyes what he had just predicted moments prior. When it comes to the ocean and his diving ability, Colin is first rate. 3: A passion that one cares to share: Colin is at home on the sea. Often charter captains are working non-stop, before and after a trip. You need a tireless individual that is dead set on delivering the best product he/she can. Colin has the energy and passion to share his knowledge and make you a better fisherman / diver. Location: divers and fisherman know this well. Location, location, location.. Colin has worthy electronics and can take you to spots that produce. Whether on the pacific side or navigating the sea of cortez, Colin has the coordinates that guarantee your best shot at success.
Just a quick note about a recent 5 day adventures with Indigo. Colin found us the perfect live-a-board to suit our every need. For daily excursions, we used Colin's Lucky 7 (great boat). He took us to 4 different locations that all produced: tuna, amber jacks, yellow tail, grouper, etc. We sat on the water with killer whales, ate the most amazing food, viewed breathtaking sunsets and, most importantly, bonded with great friends. I'd like to keep Colin a secret, to drive rates down, but everyone should have an opportunity explore Baja with a real pro!
I took my 8 year old son out with Colin this past weekend and he didn't dissapoint... We saw humpback whales up close and personal, caught a ton of fish, saw thresher sharks jumping, marlin jumping. Not only did we catch, he taught my son how things work and why they work... I will not go out with anyone else. And we go to Cabo at least 4 times a year, for the past 13 years. Colin is the best, hands down!
Very fun trip with Colin. He was responsive to calling and texting the night before our adventure and set us up with a great Captain Beto who took us into the sea of cortez and we caught 20 fish including a massive Dorado! Highly recommend will be fishing with them for all future adventures in baja
We went with a very knowledgeable and friendly guide to fish and spearfish. He knew the water very well, knew the fish and even loaned us gear when lost a fin! :)... He took us to catch bait, then troll by some good spots and finally ended up freediving along a beautiful reef. great fun for the whole family!
We couldn't have asked for a better guide, Colin is a great guy and is super helpful. He knew all aspects of Spearfishing, the best locations, unique techniques and provided a memorable experience. Highly recommend Colin for any adventure.
Great experience all around, from booking to lodging, food, fishing, transportation. Did a great job setting a trip up customized to what we wanted to do. They can set up a trip in most of Baja, whether it's Pacific side or East Cape.
Originally planned to spearfish but conditions didn't agree, was able to switch up to fishing for 3 days and was able to fish for many different species with success. Great food and lodging was set up and Colin took care of all aspects and anything we needed during our stay.
Super knowledgeable about area, setting up another trip for late summer, only adventure company we will be using in Baja in the future, highly recommend.
This adventure was great fun from start to finish, from the unconventional start to the exciting finish. Our captain and mate were helpful and great at pointing out whales, rays, turtles and seal lions as well as magnificent shorelines. We really appreciated the communication from Colin regarding weather and sea conditions. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

No. Everyone fishing in Mexican waters needs a Mexican sportfishing licence, and each angler buys their own. We help you arrange it before the day so nobody is sorting paperwork on the dock. The same licence covers rod and spear.
Rarely. Almost every trip goes out as a private boat for you and your group. If a split makes sense for a small party we will say so when you enquire.
Three on the 24 foot Punta Lobos panga, up to four on La Ruca and La Morita, and up to six on Don Pancho and El Wahoo King. Whale watching numbers run a little higher because nobody is swinging a rod.
Yes. The catch goes home with you. Filleting at the dock, vacuum sealing and freezing are available, and most guests fly home with a cooler. Marlin are mostly released, with judgement on the day.
Yes, on fishing days. The crew rigs and handles the gear and hands you the rod when something eats. Guided spearfishing needs breath-hold experience and runs on a strict buddy system, which is the only legal way to spearfish in Mexico. Water, ice and snacks are normally aboard.
