Don Pancho is a 33 foot sportfisher. He takes three to six guests fishing and up to seven for whale watching. This is the boat for a full day offshore with a larger group, when you want more deck, more range and a hull built to sit in open water for hours instead of running back in at lunchtime.

A 33 foot sportfisher

Don Pancho is 33 feet. He is a sportfisher, which means a deck laid out for fighting fish and a hull meant for a long day rather than a quick hop. Compared to the pangas he gives you room to move behind a rod, room for a cooler, and room for people who are not fishing at that moment to get out of the way.

Engines are still being confirmed. Electronics are still being confirmed. We are not going to list equipment the captain has not confirmed, and we are not going to quote you a cruising speed or a range. If a specific piece of kit matters to your trip, ask and we will get you a straight answer.

Six rods, seven for whales

Three to six guests fishing. Up to seven for whale watching, when nobody needs a rod and the deck opens up.

Six anglers is a real six, not a squeeze, which is why this is the boat we put larger groups on. Two families travelling together, a group of friends, a crew that wants to fish in shifts and swap out.

Split charters are rarely run. Book Don Pancho and he is effectively your boat. Nobody else is buying the other seats, so the day runs on your group's decisions.

A 50% deposit is normal to hold a date. Rates are still being confirmed.

The kind of day he is built for

This boat earns his keep on a full day offshore. You leave, you run out, you fish, and you are not counting the minutes until the boat has to be back. The pangas are better for short trips close in. Don Pancho is the one to take when the plan is to be out there.

Beginners are welcome and often it is a mixed group, with two people who have fished all their lives and four who have not. That works fine on a boat this size. Rod and reel rental is available.

For spearfishing, most guests bring their own gear. Some rental is available. Indigo provides lead and floats so you do not have to fly with them.

Departure times and trip durations are still being confirmed. The departure point for Don Pancho is still being confirmed and not yet confirmed either. We will give you the meeting place and time directly before your trip. Please do not plan your morning around an assumption.

Licences, your catch and the small print

Mexican fishing licences are not included in the price. Every angler buys their own. We will help you get them, and with six anglers it is worth starting that early rather than on the dock.

You can take your catch home. Expert filleting, vacuum sealing and freezing are available, so a good day offshore turns into food rather than photographs.

Water, ice and snacks are normally aboard. Some trips include lunch and alcohol. Which trips is still being confirmed. Cabin and head arrangements are still being confirmed. Ask us about all of it before you book if it changes your answer.

Not the boat if

  • There are two or three of you and you want a short, simple, cheaper trip. A panga does that better and you will not miss the extra deck.
  • You want the Pacific side out of Todos Santos. That is the Punta Lobos panga.
  • You want the steadiest possible platform for people who dislike motion. That is La Morita, the 28 foot catamaran.
  • You want a multi day trip. El Wahoo King is the bigger boat and the one to ask about.

Don Pancho is for the group of four to six that wants a full day offshore and a deck with enough room to actually fish it.

Straight answers to the questions every guest asks.

The short version of how a trip with Indigo Adventures works. Licences, deposits, boats and what happens to your catch. The full FAQ has the rest.

Read the full FAQ
Where is Indigo Adventures based, and where do trips leave from?
+

Indigo Adventures is based in El Pescadero, on the Pacific side of Baja California Sur, a few minutes south of Todos Santos. Boats launch from three points: Punta Lobos beach in Todos Santos, San Jose del Cabo, and the Cabo San Lucas Marina. Which boat runs your trip decides where you meet us.

What kinds of trips do you run?
+

Custom fishing and spearfishing charters, freediving excursions, whale watching from mid December to April, and kayaking. Every trip is built around your group, your dates and the conditions rather than a fixed timetable, and almost every one goes out private.

How does booking work?
+

Book online on the Book Now page, where availability is live and a 50 percent deposit holds the date. If you would rather we picked the trip, send an enquiry with who is coming, when you are here and what you want out of the day, and we will say which trip fits and which one does not.

Is a Mexican fishing licence included?
+

No. Everyone fishing in Mexican waters needs a Mexican sportfishing licence, and each angler buys their own. We help you arrange it before the day so nobody is sorting paperwork on the dock. The same licence covers rod and spear.

Do you run shared or split charters?
+

Rarely. Almost every trip goes out as a private boat for you and your group. If a split makes sense for a small party we will say so when you enquire.

How many people fit on a boat?
+

Three on the 24 foot Punta Lobos panga, up to four on La Ruca and La Morita, and up to six on Don Pancho and El Wahoo King. Whale watching numbers run a little higher because nobody is swinging a rod.

Can I keep what I catch?
+

Yes. The catch goes home with you. Filleting at the dock, vacuum sealing and freezing are available, and most guests fly home with a cooler. Marlin are mostly released, with judgement on the day.

Are beginners welcome?
+

Yes, on fishing days. The crew rigs and handles the gear and hands you the rod when something eats. Guided spearfishing needs breath-hold experience and runs on a strict buddy system, which is the only legal way to spearfish in Mexico. Water, ice and snacks are normally aboard.
