Several days offshore, working the banks and the water beyond them, sleeping in shifts and fishing first light instead of missing it. This is for anglers who already know they like being at sea and want more of it than daylight allows. It asks for fitness, tolerance for motion, and flexibility when the weather rewrites the plan.
An expedition is not a long day. It is a trip planned around fuel, weather windows and rest, so we can stay on fish instead of running home at sunset. That changes what we can reach, and it changes what we can do at first light, which is often the best hour of the day and the one a day charter always misses. The number of days, the itinerary and the vessel we use are still being confirmed.
Which boat we take also decides where we leave from. The 35 foot El Wahoo King leaves from Cabo San Lucas Marina. The departure point for the 33 foot Don Pancho is still being confirmed, and departure times are still being confirmed on both. We are based in El Pescadero, near Todos Santos on the Pacific side, so the departure point is not our doorstep either, and where you meet the boat is set by the boat rather than by where our office is. We almost never run split charters, so an expedition is your own boat and your own crew rather than a berth on somebody else's trip. El Wahoo King fishes up to six and Don Pancho three to six, and on a trip with bunks in it fewer people is usually the better call.
From the cape the obvious targets are the Pacific banks, the deep water beyond them, and the high spots up the Sea of Cortez side. Longer trips off this coast sometimes run north along the Pacific, past our own water off Todos Santos. Whether we go that far, and to which grounds, is still being confirmed. We plan the route once we have a forecast we trust, usually in the days before departure, and we would rather change the plan than push into weather that ruins the fishing anyway.
Long runs happen at night more often than people expect, so a real part of the trip is spent covering water rather than fishing it. That is the price of reaching ground the day boats cannot touch, and it is worth knowing before you picture the trip as constant action.
Long trips are simple and repetitive. You fish, you eat, you sleep in shifts, you fish again. Berths, showers, and what the galley provides are still being confirmed, though water, ice and snacks are aboard as a matter of course on everything we run. Expect to be salty and short of sleep at some point. Expect the boat to move while you are trying to rest. People who like this kind of trip like it a great deal. People who do not like it usually work that out on the first night.
Watches are how a long trip holds together. Somebody is always awake and somebody is always resting, and it only works if people take their sleep when it is offered instead of staying up because the water looks good. When the crew tells you to go and lie down, go and lie down.
Do not book this as your first fishing trip. Take a full day first and see how your body handles a long day before committing to several. Do not book it if you are prone to seasickness, because there is no getting off. Do not book it if you need reliable phone signal for work. Do not book it if a fixed schedule matters to you, because a weather window can move a departure. It is not a trip for young children, and it is not a comfortable holiday.
You do not need to be an athlete. You do need to move safely around a moving deck, get in and out of a bunk, and hold on with one hand while the boat does something unexpected. Tell us before you book about heart conditions, recent surgery, back problems, diabetes, or anything that needs medication on a schedule. We are hours from a clinic when we are offshore. That is not a reason to keep it quiet, it is exactly the reason to tell us. What medical kit and emergency communications we carry is still being confirmed.
Boat tackle is provided. Bring your own rods if you have gear you trust and know how to fish, and tell us in advance so we can plan the spread around it.
The catch is yours. We handle and ice fish aboard as they come in, and expert filleting, vacuum sealing and freezing are available once we are back in, which on a trip this long is the difference between fish that flies home and fish that does not.
Storm season runs roughly June through November and the port closes when conditions require it. On a multi day trip the weather call is bigger than on a day trip, because we are committing to being far from shelter. We would rather move your dates than take you somewhere unpleasant. A 50% deposit is normally required to hold dates. Cancellation, refund, rescheduling and what happens if we shorten a trip are still being confirmed.

No. Everyone fishing in Mexican waters needs a Mexican sportfishing licence, and each angler buys their own. We help you arrange it before the day so nobody is sorting paperwork on the dock. The same licence covers rod and spear.
Rarely. Almost every trip goes out as a private boat for you and your group. If a split makes sense for a small party we will say so when you enquire.
Three on the 24 foot Punta Lobos panga, up to four on La Ruca and La Morita, and up to six on Don Pancho and El Wahoo King. Whale watching numbers run a little higher because nobody is swinging a rod.
Yes. The catch goes home with you. Filleting at the dock, vacuum sealing and freezing are available, and most guests fly home with a cooler. Marlin are mostly released, with judgement on the day.
Yes, on fishing days. The crew rigs and handles the gear and hands you the rod when something eats. Guided spearfishing needs breath-hold experience and runs on a strict buddy system, which is the only legal way to spearfish in Mexico. Water, ice and snacks are normally aboard.
