El Wahoo King is a 35 foot sportfisher and the largest boat in the Indigo Adventures fleet. He runs out of the Cabo San Lucas Marina. Up to six guests fishing, up to eight for whale watching and cruising trips. This is the boat for offshore days, for multi day trips, and for groups that have outgrown a panga.

The biggest boat we run

El Wahoo King is 35 feet, and he is the largest boat in the fleet. Everything that follows comes from that. More deck. More room for six people to be out for a long day without standing on each other. A hull that is meant for offshore water rather than a quick run out and back.

What he is not is a boat we are going to oversell. Engines are still being confirmed. Electronics are still being confirmed. Cabin and head arrangements are still being confirmed. Year built is still being confirmed. If any of those decide the trip for you, ask and the captain will tell you exactly what is aboard. We would rather answer the question than write something we cannot stand behind.

Leaving from the Cabo San Lucas Marina

His home port and departure point is the Cabo San Lucas Marina. That is the easiest place to meet a boat if you are staying in Cabo San Lucas. You walk down, you find the slip, you go. Indigo Adventures itself is based in El Pescadero, near Todos Santos, and runs trips on both coasts of the cape, so the departure point depends on which boat runs the trip.

Departure times and trip durations are still being confirmed. We will confirm your meeting point and time before the day.

Six fishing, eight for whales and cruising

Up to six guests fishing. Up to eight for whale watching and cruising trips, where nobody is working a rod and the deck opens up.

That gap between six and eight is worth knowing about. If you have a group of seven or eight and the day is about being on the water, watching for whales and cruising the coast, this is the only boat in the fleet that takes you all in one trip.

Split charters are rarely run. Book El Wahoo King and he is effectively your boat for the day. You are not sharing a deck with strangers and you are not fishing to somebody else's timetable.

A 50% deposit is normal to hold a date. Rates are still being confirmed.

Offshore days and multi day trips

This is the boat for the long day. Run out, fish properly, and come back when the fishing tells you to rather than when the boat needs to be in.

He is also the boat to ask about for multi day trips, which no other vessel in the fleet is set up for. The specifics of how a multi day trip runs, including sleeping arrangements, are still being confirmed. Talk to us and we will build it around what you want and tell you plainly what is possible.

Beginners are welcome. Groups are usually mixed and that is fine on a boat this size, because there is room for one person to be learning while somebody else is fighting a fish. Rod and reel rental is available if you did not travel with gear.

For spearfishing, most guests bring their own gear. Some rental is available. We provide lead and floats so you do not have to fly with them.

Licences and your catch

Mexican fishing licences are not included in the price. Each angler buys their own. We will help you get them, and with a group of six it is worth sorting that out well before the morning of the trip.

You take your catch home. Expert filleting, vacuum sealing and freezing are available, which is the difference between a cooler of fish and a problem at the airport.

Water, ice and snacks are normally aboard. Some trips include lunch and alcohol. Which trips is still being confirmed, so ask us when you enquire.

When a smaller boat is the better buy

  • Two or three people on a short trip. You are paying for deck you will not use. Take a panga.
  • The Pacific side out of Todos Santos. That is the Punta Lobos panga, with its beach launch and its rules.
  • The flattest deck in the fleet for a nervous group or small children. That is La Morita, the 28 foot catamaran, out of San Jose del Cabo.
  • A smaller offshore day for four to six. Don Pancho at 33 feet does that well.

El Wahoo King is for larger groups, long offshore days, multi day trips, and anyone who wants the most boat Indigo Adventures has.

The short version of how a trip with Indigo Adventures works. Licences, deposits, boats and what happens to your catch. The full FAQ has the rest.

Read the full FAQ
Where is Indigo Adventures based, and where do trips leave from?
+

Indigo Adventures is based in El Pescadero, on the Pacific side of Baja California Sur, a few minutes south of Todos Santos. Boats launch from three points: Punta Lobos beach in Todos Santos, San Jose del Cabo, and the Cabo San Lucas Marina. Which boat runs your trip decides where you meet us.

What kinds of trips do you run?
+

Custom fishing and spearfishing charters, freediving excursions, whale watching from mid December to April, and kayaking. Every trip is built around your group, your dates and the conditions rather than a fixed timetable, and almost every one goes out private.

How does booking work?
+

Book online on the Book Now page, where availability is live and a 50 percent deposit holds the date. If you would rather we picked the trip, send an enquiry with who is coming, when you are here and what you want out of the day, and we will say which trip fits and which one does not.

Is a Mexican fishing licence included?
+

No. Everyone fishing in Mexican waters needs a Mexican sportfishing licence, and each angler buys their own. We help you arrange it before the day so nobody is sorting paperwork on the dock. The same licence covers rod and spear.

Do you run shared or split charters?
+

Rarely. Almost every trip goes out as a private boat for you and your group. If a split makes sense for a small party we will say so when you enquire.

How many people fit on a boat?
+

Three on the 24 foot Punta Lobos panga, up to four on La Ruca and La Morita, and up to six on Don Pancho and El Wahoo King. Whale watching numbers run a little higher because nobody is swinging a rod.

Can I keep what I catch?
+

Yes. The catch goes home with you. Filleting at the dock, vacuum sealing and freezing are available, and most guests fly home with a cooler. Marlin are mostly released, with judgement on the day.

Are beginners welcome?
+

Yes, on fishing days. The crew rigs and handles the gear and hands you the rod when something eats. Guided spearfishing needs breath-hold experience and runs on a strict buddy system, which is the only legal way to spearfish in Mexico. Water, ice and snacks are normally aboard.
