November may be the best month we have. Wahoo are running, tuna are heavy, dorado are still around and the striped marlin come back as the water cools. The humidity is gone, the storm risk is behind you, and the holiday crowds have not arrived yet. Hard to argue with.
November is the month everything settles. Water eases from the low eighties down toward the high seventies. Air sits in the low to mid eighties through the day and cools off at night, and the humidity of summer is finished. Hurricane season officially closes at the end of the month, and in practice the risk is already small by the time November starts.
Wind is generally light early on. The first north wind of the winter usually arrives late in the month, which is the signal that the winter pattern is on its way.
Mornings start to need a layer by the end of November, and the gap between the run out at first light and the middle of the afternoon widens as December approaches. Bring something with sleeves even when the forecast says eighty.
November holds the widest useful mix of the year alongside October. Wahoo are in their run. Yellowfin tuna are still good and the fall fish are the heaviest we see. Dorado are around, thinning as the month goes on. Blue marlin and sailfish are winding down but still present, especially in the first half.
At the same time the striped marlin come back in numbers as the water cools. November is the start of their strong stretch, which runs through to roughly May. That overlap between the last of the summer fish and the first of the winter fish is what makes the month worth building a trip around.
The mix also means you can fish more than one way in a single day. Troll wire for wahoo and tuna on the way out, then switch to bait if we raise a striped marlin on the way back. There are not many months where you can do both without giving something up.
Whales start turning up toward the end of November in some years, though December is when they arrive reliably.
Offshore. Same answer as October and for the same reason. There is more out there in November than in almost any other month, and the weather cooperates with a long day.
Inshore fishing is quieter as the water cools, though sierra start to reappear late in the month. Roosterfish are largely done.
Spearfishing in November is good. The water is still comfortable, visibility is usually excellent, and the winter fish are moving in.
November also works well for a group with different interests, because the fishing is varied enough that most people find something they want to catch. It is the last comfortable window before holiday pricing takes over in December.
November is one of the more pleasant months to be here on land. The weather is comfortable, the town is busy without being crowded, and prices sit below the December and January peak. Thanksgiving week is the exception and it is busy both in town and on the water.
If you want good fishing without holiday prices and holiday crowds, the first three weeks of November are as good a target as anything on the calendar.
If you told us to pick one month for someone who wants strong odds of a good day on the water with comfortable weather, we would probably say November. Two seasons overlap, the storm risk is behind you, and the town is easy to be in.
Skip November only if you are after the very biggest blue marlin, which is a late summer target, or if you are coming specifically for whales, which are far more reliable from mid December onward. Outside those two cases this is a month we recommend without qualification.

No. Everyone fishing in Mexican waters needs a Mexican sportfishing licence, and each angler buys their own. We help you arrange it before the day so nobody is sorting paperwork on the dock. The same licence covers rod and spear.
Rarely. Almost every trip goes out as a private boat for you and your group. If a split makes sense for a small party we will say so when you enquire.
Three on the 24 foot Punta Lobos panga, up to four on La Ruca and La Morita, and up to six on Don Pancho and El Wahoo King. Whale watching numbers run a little higher because nobody is swinging a rod.
Yes. The catch goes home with you. Filleting at the dock, vacuum sealing and freezing are available, and most guests fly home with a cooler. Marlin are mostly released, with judgement on the day.
Yes, on fishing days. The crew rigs and handles the gear and hands you the rod when something eats. Guided spearfishing needs breath-hold experience and runs on a strict buddy system, which is the only legal way to spearfish in Mexico. Water, ice and snacks are normally aboard.
